Marvin Horton, 74, of Desloge, passed away October 13, 2021, at Parkland Hospital in Farmington. He was born March 3, 1947, in Elvins, to the late Walter Horton and Anna (Gibson) Detring.
Marvin is survived by his loving wife, Betty (Compton) Horton; sons, Teddy Horton (Michelle), and Aaron Horton (Alison); grandchildren, Tyler, Garrett, Eli, Ethan and Felicity; siblings, Kathyrn Swim, Marie Gross (Kenny), Aldean Wilkerson, and Eugene Horton (Wanda).
Marvin was a welder for Union Pacific Railroad for 35 years. He also served in the U.S. Army to include a tour in Vietnam. In retirement he enjoyed farming and riding his scooter. Marvin will also be remembered for his sense of humor and service to others. He was a member of Elvins Baptist Church and a member of Elvins Ionic Lodge #154 for 50 years.
Visitation will be held at C.Z. Boyer and Son Funeral Home in Desloge, Friday, October 22, 2021, from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM. Visitation will resume on Saturday, October 23, 2021 at 9:00 AM until time of service at 10:00 AM. Reverend Bill Bond will be officiating. Memorials may be directed to Elvins Baptist Church.
