Today, the Transportation Communications Union (TCU) and Brotherhood Railway Carmen (BRC) announced that their members have voted strongly in favor of ratifying their respective Agreements with CSX Transportation. These agreements cover the TCU Clerical as well as BRC and TWU Carmen on CSXT. The agreements consist of a five-year term, which provides 17.5% in General Wage Increases (18.8% compounded), improves vacation agreement entitlements, provides improvements in health and welfare benefits while maintaining the current 15% monthly contribution.
This is the most significant wage increase received on CSX in any round of bargaining outside of a Presidential Emergency Board in over twenty (20) years. It provides the first meaningful improvements to the National Vacation agreement in over fifty (50) years.
“I am proud to see our members show such strong support for these agreements with CSX. This is a first for our industry, and TCU is proud to lead the way,” said TCU President Artie Maratea. “Our members were tired of waiting years for contracts and this agreement changed that. I look forward to the remaining results of the members who are still in the ratification process on other Carriers.”
“We will continue the work to reach an agreement on every Carrier for our members. We appreciate these Carriers who have stepped up and done right by our members; it’s time for the other Carriers to do the same thing.”
“Our members recognized the value of this contract and have voted for ratification. This is a huge accomplishment and I am proud for our members. We will continue our efforts to make sure that every BRC member receives a good and timely agreement,” said BRC General President Don Grissom.
